Capt Robert Bartlett brought Schooner Ernestina to her furthest North latitude of 80 degress, 22 minutes. However, in 1909, Capt. Bartlett brought Admiral Robert Peary even further North to 87° 48’N on this exploration of the North Pole.
Next summer marks the 100th anniversary of this expedition, and the Historic Sites of Newfoundland and Labrador are planning quite a celebration.
